Perspectivas contemporâneas da saúde coletiva

Abstract

This collection presents a critical and transdisciplinary reflection on the contemporary landscape, challenges, and advancements within the field of Collective Health. As a result of collaborative efforts among faculty, students, and partner researchers from the Graduate Program in Collective Health (PPGSC) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes), the book encompasses sixteen original chapters organized into three structural thematic axes. The first part delves into "Management and care practices in the daily routine of health services," critically examining the inseparability of care and administration through analyses of the reconfiguration of philanthropic institutions, management assessment in university hospitals, organizational milestones of organ donation in Espírito Santo, the historical evolution of Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS), and new healthcare approaches emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic. The second part shifts focus to "Evaluation and training practices in health," discussing the monitoring of the Unified Health System (SUS) in an inclusive manner through the role of ombudsman offices, professional perception regarding social program accessibility for tuberculosis patients, the impact of patient safety culture, and in-service training experiences via local initiatives. Finally, the third part addresses "Health care practices in chronic conditions and violence," compiling epidemiological data and theoretical-conceptual insights with an emphasis on the oncological care network, the relevance of palliative care integrated into primary attention, the promotion of mental health in university students and vulnerable populations (such as refugee children), and tackling interpersonal violence during adolescence. This is an essential volume aimed at transforming ongoing practices and reinforcing the Unified Health System (SUS) in the face of today's complex demographic and epidemiological challenges.
