The flooded meadows present high biological wealth, that present soils with high tenors of organic matter due to their hidromorphic characteristics. These are gradually drained with the move forward farming progress. The drainage waters suffer influence in their quality when they interact with the organic layer of the soil, assimilating several of the soils’ physiochemical characteristics. Besides this drainage creates an aerobic atmosphere to the soil, providing ideal conditions of mineralization of the organic layer by microorganisms that, associated with the agricultural handling, takes it to a reduction process. The present study was developed in Vale do Suruaca (Suruaca’s Valey), in the north of the of Rio Doce’s delta (Sweet Rivers’ delta), in the state of Espírito Santo, in Brazil, and it presents as main objectives analyzing qualitative characteristics of drained waters of organic soils, with emphasis in physiochemical parameters, as well as alterations in organic soils caused by the drainage and different types of use and handling. Concerning the soil we get to the conclusion that under the organic layer, the Suruaca’s Valey presents different texture types (sandy soil and loamy soil) in the subsuperficial layer (under superficial), depending on the chosen handling, it receives a new denomination in the Brazilian System of Classification of Soils, the Neossololos Quartzarênicos for sandy soils and Gleissolos for loamy soils. It’s concluded that the soil makes great influence on several parameters of water quality, where the larger variations were pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, apparent color and mud. The parameters that presented the largest number of violations of the legal patterns of parameters of water quality were pH, dissolved oxygen, apparent color and tenors of Al. The results of the monitoring of the waters also demonstrated the great influence of the weather conditions on the parameters of water quality in areas that contain organic soils
