Resumo
The digitization of cultural heritage, strengthened since the 2000s, has profoundly transformed the way collective memory is preserved and disseminated. Driven by technological advances, this practice has been consolidated through cultural data aggregation platforms, which bring together collections from different institutions, facilitating access, research, and information reuse. In Brazil, initiatives such as those of the Brazilian Institute of Museums and the Espírito Santo State Secretariat of Culture, through the Midiateca Capixaba, exemplify this movement by adopting documentation standards, metadata, and controlled vocabularies that ensure interoperability between collections. In this context, the digitization of regional magazines, such as Revista Vida Capichaba (1923–1959), preserved by the State Public Library, expands the reach of visual narratives that document values and historical trajectories. Their covers, more than simple illustrations, constitute visual narratives that reflect social imaginaries and can be analyzed in light of the concept of "Thematic Narrative Trajectory." The objective of this research is to propose Thematic Narrative Paths based on the covers of Revista Vida "Capichaba," analyzing the technical and curatorial conditions necessary for the reuse of cultural records, with an emphasis on cross-cutting themes present in the Midiateca Capixaba databases. The methodology combined a Systematic Literature Review to establish analysis criteria (digital curation, interoperability, and Thematic Narrative Trajectories) and a Single Embedded Case Study, with a qualitative, applied, and exploratory-descriptive approach. The results indicated gaps and potential in the analyzed metadata according to cataloging principles, highlighting the need for greater standardization and semantic enrichment. The definition and validation of thematic descriptors, supported by international vocabularies, ensured terminological consistency in searches. The construction of the Thematic Narrative Trajectory, structured around the sub-axes Religious Architecture, Sacred Iconography, and Collective Manifestations of Faith, linked magazine covers to digital objects from the Media Library, resulting in a visual and coherent curatorial map. These findings confirm the relevance of the proposed model as a methodological and curatorial strategy for the integration and valorization of digital collections.
