Resumo
After the rupture of the Fundão ore tailings dam, in the city of Mariana-MG, on November 5, 2015, several municipalities in the state of Espírito Santo were affected by the tailings, through their transport by the Rio Doce River and by the rains, which generated consequences in different scopes across the entire course of the Rio Doce River Valley and the coastal zone of Espírito Santo. Among the affected regions, we will focus on the case of the mouth of Doce River, on the coast of the state of Espírito Santo, where the river mouth of this river is located. During the field trips in the village or in other situations with the human agents involved with the mud, we could observe disparities between empirical-local and technoscientific knowledges-and-practices, in relation to the water conditions. Thereby, we have tried to analyze the construction of those knowledge practices, reflecting on the construction of science, proposing an approach based on anthropology, and sociology of disasters. To analyze the technoscientific knowledge practices, we used reports gathered in databases, we followed events and meetings at universities in Espírito Santo, and also public hearings, and a lot of documents, like technical and scientific reports. Specifically, on the analysis of empirical-local knowledges-and-practices, it was made direct observation in Regência Augusta, Areal e Entre Rios. The proposal is centered on the discussion about disputes about the (possible and real) effects of tailings, discussing how they are being triggered in the case of water contamination / toxicity from tailings dam.
