Resumo
Estimates show that population aging occurs at an accelerated rate in Brazil, while transvestites continue to experience precariousness collectively, being more exposed to damage, violence and the deterioration of their social and economic support networks. In this context, the present study aimed to narrate the collective experiences of transvestites with a focus on the aging process. It was a qualitative research where Walter Benjamin's conversation and narrative theory were used as devices for the production of transvestites' narratives. Rio Grande do Sul and Espírito Santo were chosen as the research scenarios. Several aspects that influence their aging process were narrated by transvestites. From their narratives, aspects such as opportunities for formal education and work, access to health services to make bodily changes and violence were shown to be phenomena that influence their aging process and their perceptions of old age. Even in the midst of precariousness, transvestites enhance their friendships, sharing experiences that make their lives more livable. Through their narratives, they told moving stories that show their struggles to exist and conquer their right to grow up transvestite.
