Resumo
This work aims to understand and reflect geographically on the issues of people with disabilities, such as ableism, as a form of oppression and violence against people with disabilities, and accessibility, relating to the possible exclusion from public, cultural and leisure spaces in Região Metropolitana da Grande Vitória (RMGV). This work begins by presenting the political and academic context and the conceptual universe, then presents the methodology and finally the results and discussions of the research. In order to achieve the objective, two stages of direct research were carried out with the participants, both in a virtual environment, one by means of a questionnaire (10 people responded) and the other by means of a semi-structured interview (6 people agreed to take part in the interviews). The entire methodological process for the construction of this work is based on my identity as a person with disabilities, each stage and process is directly related to my life experiences. The choice of online interviews arises from my inability to travel constantly, as well as being an important accessibility resource for the people with disabilities interviewed, since they would not need to move. The work does not conclude in a closed way, but opens up new possibilities for thinking about ableism from a geographical perspective, analyzing socio-spatial aspects, realizing that ableism generates places of exclusion, making it impossible for people with disabilities to exercise their rights fully and effectively
