- ItemPrática de atividade física e esportiva em estudantes universitários: realização, estágios de mudança de comportamento e barreiras. Um estudo realizado na Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-03-08) Pinto, Scheilla Vilella; Alves, Nuno José Corte-Real Correia; Menandro, Paulo Rogério Meira; Perim, Paulo Castelar; Perez, Anselmo JoseNoticing the importance of regular physical activity for health and the confirmation of young adults’ less active lifestyle nowadays, the objective of studies was to analyze, considering sex and age: I) nature e frequency of physical activities and sports practices accomplished by university students; II) the barriers to engage at physical activities; III) and the Stages of Behavior Change - EMC – which the academics find themselves according to the Transtheoretical Model - MTT. The dissertation consists of two papers and one experience report. All participants are students of the Federal University of Espírito Santo - UFES, attendants of different courses. Data gathering was on a Behavior Related to Health's inventory used in Portugal in similar studies by Corte-Real and collaborators, which was adapted to the Brazilian Portuguese language. On the 1st study, 164 psychology undergraduate students were investigated. On the 2nd study 1697 students from different courses participated. The ages varied between 18 and 29 years old (average = 21,7), and 60% of the participants were female. It was verified that 44,5% of the university students didn’t practice sports, 47,6% don't practice any vigorous physical activity and 32,7% didn't even practice weekly moderate physical activities. Less than 1/3 practiced, regularly, sports or vigorous physical activities. It was confirmed that women and young ones are more alike to be less physically active. The ''lack of time'' was the main issue mentioned by the respondents. On the stages of behavior changes, it was verified that only 29,3% of the participants found themselves on a maintenance stage, referred to the ones who exercise regularly for more than six months. The EMC analysis showed that a little portion of the students (7%) have no intention of adopting physically active behavior, positioning themselves on the pre-contemplation stage. That indicates that big part of the university population isn't physically active, however, being positioned on the pre-contemplation and preparation stages facilitates change of behavior if stimulated, for example, with similar projects described on the experience report. Such stimuli can take the young ones to realize that it's possible to get a better management of their time and that they can invest in physical and sports activities having no impairment to their study and still gain in terms of health.
