The early diagnosis influences the prognosis of this disease and the treatment involves numerous interventions. The operationalization of the Nursing Process organizes the actions of the nurse offering quality assistance. For this, it is necessary to use terminologies that define the practice of nursing, one of them is the International Classification for Nursing Practice. This is a taxonomy that names, classifies and links phenomena that describe professional practice. Objectives: To elaborate a terminological subset of the International Classification for Nursing Practice for the alcoholic person. Methodology: This is a descriptive study, carried out in four stages. 1) Identification of the signs and symptoms of alcoholism by analyzing the medical records of people diagnosed with Alcohol Dependence Syndrome in follow-up at the Program for the Assistance of Alcoholics at the Cassiano Antônio de Moraes University Hospital and through the analysis of official documents about alcoholism. 2) Mapping the terms found in the first stage with the terms of the FOCUS axis of the International Classification for Nursing Practice of 2017. 3) Construction and validation of nursing diagnoses, outcomes and interventions, and the construction of operational definitions. 4) Structuring the terminology subset of International Classification for Nursing Practice. Results: 28 nursing diagnoses and results, and 211 nursing interventions validated by specialist nurses. Product: International Classification for Nursing Practice Terminology sub-set for the alcoholic person. Conclusion: The International Classification for Nursing Practice terminology subset that was elaborated can assist in critical thinking and decision making that will contribute to the nursing care of alcoholics through the use of a standardized language
