Resumo
The Children and play are much debated issues in the school context, mainly in the scope of the Infantile Education, being the playing a thematic that is part of the life of the child. This work aimed to carry out a study about the child and his play in Early Childhood Education, as well as to understand the importance and the relationship of playing in the development of the child. The research was based on the theoretical reference of Jean Piaget. This is a qualitative descriptive research. For the collection of data the methodology was adopted filming in a Municipal Pre-School Unit (UPEM) in the municipality of Conceição da Barra. The reflection and discussion of the filming were based, in addition to Piaget, on the theoretical references that approach the subject to play, among them Kamii and Kishimoto. Through the filming of children, it was possible to perceive and reflect on the characteristics of their development that are present in the game, such as games, their behavior and their language. The actions and speeches of the children in the described scenes were the basis for the process of analysis and reflection of this work. Filming showed how children play, also revealing the relationships they establish between each other, making it possible to reflect on the importance of knowing the child and its stages of development in Early Childhood Education, which is the determining basis for their future development in the intellectual, social and affective. It was noted that filming the child in the space of the park was of great importance, and contributed to reach the goal proposed in this research, because although they are still controlled and disciplined at times, it is the place where children still have more freedom to play and express themselves, since in the classroom, most of the time is directed to the process of teaching and learning and carrying out activities. The study evidenced that play is a primary factor to promote the development of the child, because it allows the same, if express, think and create in a free way and according to their needs.
