Resumo
The inclusion of visual impairments people in regular classrooms represents a set of challenges in the teaching and learning process not only for students who have this type of disability, but also for teachers, who must be able to effectively fulfill this work inclusive. Based on these concerns, the aim of this study was to know about the Science and Biology teaching for visually impaired students. The research was organized in three stages: (1) a national survey on the production and use of tactile didactic resources in science and biology adapted to students with visual impairment, (2) interviews with public school teachers in São Mateus/ES and (3) production of adapted didactic material. In the first stage, using the study of art method, it was possible to draw a panorama which indicated that the production of material increased in the last five years, but there are still subareas that are not produced materials such as, for example, evolution. In the teacher‟s interviews, it was observed unpreparedness and insecurity to deal with visually impaired students, many teachers believe that they are not able to work Sciences and Biology with these students and that is necessary continuing education courses. Finally, in the third stage, seven three-dimensional didactic models were produced, based on the results obtained in the previous stages. In the first stage and in the second stage, it was possible to observe the importance of didactic resources in the process of inclusion in the teaching of Science and Biology, considered mainly by the teachers participating in the research as facilitators in the teaching and learning process both for visually impaired students and for those with good visual acuity. We also observed in the analyzes, how much research is needed for several subareas that were not present in the analyzed works. Yet, in the face of many reports from teachers pointing to the lack of preparation in dealing with such reality, a continuing training workshop was also designed for future opportunities.
