Resumo
The importance of the supply of water for the daily needs of humans has caused people to establish to the margins of water bodies, resulting in changes in the structures of biological communities existents, in addition to compromising the most noble uses of this resource. This work, evaluated the variations of the phytoplankton community in an area of Jucu river used to retain water with the purpose of public water supply. It was performed four samples (August, November/2006 and February, May/2007) on the surface and bottom of five points in a stretch of the Jucu River near to the collection point of Municipal Water Treatment Plant. Were carried qualitative and quantitative analyses, and estimate the values of biomass was used biovolume cell of the algae.Indices of Diversity Specific were obtained for the numerical values of density and biomass. Moreover, were analyzed the parameters: water temperature, depth, transparency, limit the zone eufótica, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity ammonia nitrogen, nitrate and orthophosphate, chlorophyll a and feofitina. Rainfall and air temperature informartions were made available by Incaper. The highest rates of rainfall were observed in the periods of November/06 and February/07. The variations occurred in the physical, chemical and physico-chemical water parameters were seasonal, determined by the rains occurred in the dry and wet periods. In the qualitative analyses were identified 140 taxons and the diatoms were the largest contributors. The values of density were higher at droughts weather, occurring a dominance of cyanobacteria, especially those belonging to the picoplâncton. The values of biomass were considered low and the taxonomic class which was the largest contributor was the Bacillariophyceae. The Indices of Diversity Specific applied to the values of biomass, showed higher when compared to the values applied to numerical density. Multivariate analysis ordered in the first factor, the diversity applied to the density and pH, and biomass of cyanobacteria to the dissolved oxygen. Species of potentially toxic cyanobacteria were found in the present work, but with low values of density and biomass. In regard to the cyanobacteria values, we can suggest that the Jucu river, is appropriate to the public supply, must, however, subject to monthly monitoring of these microorganisms at the collection point.
