- ItemSobre os investimentos e cuidados com o corpo na sociedade de consumidores : interpretações à partir de estudantes do Ensino Médio do Colégio Pedo II(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-06-30) Silva, Guilherme de Castro Ribeiro Ferreira e; Gomes, Ivan Marcelo; Almeida, Ueberson Ribeiro de; Almeida, Felipe Quintão deThe objective of the study was to analyze how the high school students of Colégio Pedro II invest and take care of the body in what Zygmunt Bauman agreed to call consumer society. The research was developed with seventy five regular and integrated high school students from Colégio Pedro II – São Cristóvão III Campus. The information collection was based on two instruments: (1) Survey Questionnaire online and (2) Focus Group. In the online survey questionnaire, seventy five students answered questions related to four major themes: body and consumption; interventions in the body; care with food; and bodily practices. The focus group had a meeting and had the participation of seven students, selected from the analysis of the answers of the online survey questionnaire. The organization - guide - was based on the four main themes and data of the online survey questionnaire. The data were analyzed from the cross-referencing of the online survey questionnaire and the focus group, favoring the dialogue with the sociological approach of Zygmunt Bauman. The analyzes demonstrated that the students of the Pedro II College, even living and studying in a plural environment on social, political, economic and cultural issues, as well as having access to discussions and reflections on the body from the difference and understanding this body within a consumer oriented society are not immune to the imperative discourses of the institutions that now regulate the body, such as the body industry. Therefore, students' discourse on investing and caring for the body in the consumer society is ambivalent, as many students have said they like their bodies, but in the course of their work many have been dissatisfied and/or insecure with their bodies, seeking through interventions in the body, caring for food and corporal practices, satisfy their needs/desires in the search for a lean and athletic body, synonymous with beauty and success. In this way, corroborating with Zygmunt Bauman, work has shown that being dissatisfied with the body is a condition of the consumer society.
