Contemporary career systems are rapidly becoming boundaryless, and the work market has gradually become an insecure environment, highlighted by the coexistence of different employability models supposed provide balance to economic and labor systems. Studies investigating protean career theory characteristics in samples of high schoolers transitioning to college level degree are scarce. From that fact emerges the relevance of exploring the field, aiming to understand the given population and which relations are established not only with protean career characteristics but also how they are adapting to the demands settled by the work market. This study was designed to obtain evidence of validity collected from a construction of the Protean Career Scale. To evaluative and support the findings and results, constructs such as adaptability and psychological capital used to asses possible correlations. After approval by the Research Ethics Committee, participants were invited to answer a questionnaire prepared on Google Forms, which was disseminated on social networks (Whatsapp and Instagram), as well as by email sent to educational institutions. The collection took place during the CoVID-19 pandemic period. A total of 430 students participated in the survey, the majority being women (66.3%, n = 285), with a mean age of 21.3 years (sd = 3.85). The results pointed to the permanence of the two theoretically predicted dimensions, with 20 items having a load ≥0.29, ten of which evaluating values direction (example of item: "If I am not interested in the profession I have chosen, I will seek other occupations that can provide me with greater achievement staff.”) and ten, selfmanagement (example of the item “I try to be aware of new developments that arise in the professional areas that interest me.”). Evidence gathering from external measures was moderate or strong with the Career Protean Management Scale. Incremental evidence pointed to control and confidence (career adaptability) and optimism and self-efficacy (psychological capital) as protean career predictors. The main limitations of the research were found in the small number of respondents, which made more assertive analyzes of the new instrument impossible.
