Resumo
The main purpose of this research is suggest a social and anthropological approach to the transexuality phenomenon in the contemporary western society. Starting from the analysis of the women's "journey" who are transexual (in transexuality) in Vitoria- ES, in attempt to understand their perspective of life and their points of view which were developed in a poignant heteronormative society. My interviews happened from 2012 to the beginning of 2014. The main methodology used for analisys was life story (oral story of people's life), having as main goal the perception of the elements which are recurrent during the process of building a social identity for those women. Besides their life stories I used some interviews and multimedia materials and data about women in transexuality who has been gaining notoriety in the Brazilian society on the last couple years. First of all, it was made a bibliographic rescue of academic discussion about gender and its impact in the western society as well as the transexuality phenomenon. Based on the interviews and media data, I made an interpretation of the elements which are invoked to build a social image of those women in transexuality. I've analysed the events recurrent in their lives knowing that this kind of experience is considered as a deviance in our society. The analysis of their life stories had as main reference the concept of project which is suggested by Alfredo Schultz and it was revised by Gilberto Velho. Another point analysed on that research was the feminine body construction, considering that as a very important point on the whole process of becoming woman as well as seeking the comprehension of the body and gender representation in their identity construction. I intented to show the process their personal and social identity construction which each of experience and how they see themselves on their social relationship established on their daily basis as well as their social place in the western society, especially the Brazilian one.
