Resumo
The abuse of drugs has been associated with many health diseases. Studies in the area warn of the need to strengthen actions to the users of these substances. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the attitudes of professionals who participated in the formation course "Brief intervention and motivational interviewing on drugs” provided by the Regional Reference Center on Drugs of the Holy Spirit about drug use. Methodology: This is an exploratory and descriptive study. The "Attitude Scale Front Alcohol, Alcoholism and alcoholics" were used as the measurement instrument of attitudes and as a research technique to semi-structured interview. The scale data were analyzed by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences v. 22, using univariate analysis. And to explore the data from the interview was used the thematic content analysis. The sample was composed by 144 workers. And was selected six participants that work at Attention Center for drug addicts to use the qualitative methodology. Results: Between the 144 professionals who answered the scale, 86.8% were female, 36.8% of those aged 35-44 years and 34% between 25 and 34 years, the most were graduated in social work. The study shows that despite the professionals do not demonstrate knowledge of addiction, these have understanding of the risk factors for drug use. In addition, there was an increase in positive attitudes of professionals towards drug users where most believe in the real potential of individuals to change. Concluded: So, this study points to the need for greater incentives and increased supply of continuing education in this area aimed at improving the quality of care
