Resumo
The aim of this study was to analyze the contribution of the Graduation of the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) for Sustainable Development (SD), under the criteria of scientific production, based on the methodological approach adopted by the CAPES in 2012 in the document "Contribution of the Brazilian graduate course for sustainable development (SD) - Capes na Rio +20" (United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012) aiming at identifying resources, potentialities and challenges for to guide the development of SD paradigms. It was fundamentally aimed at detailing for UFES the methodology developed by CAPES for the Brazilian Graduation from the production of theses, dissertations, books and book chapters; articles published in journals and papers presented at events whose information is available on the UFES Repository Thesis and Dissertations website (RIUFES), identifying the contribution of UFES to SD. In order to do so, a bibliographical review was carried out on the main national and international academic productions to highlight the historical-theoretical constructions on SD, as well as those related to University-Enterprise-Government (UEG) cooperative relations, thus providing the panorama of the evolution of the Brazilian Graduation; thematic areas and indicators of the Graduate Program based on the book CAPES in Rio +20. The results pointed to the absence of important academic areas in the study of the SD theme in Capes' reference work, such as the Economics and Administration areas. It was observed that, although maintaining the average of the Brazilian Graduate performance according to the CAPES criteria, it was identified that both the contribution of the Brazilian Graduation and the UFES are underestimated by not incorporating the SD production in the Large Areas of Applied Social Sciences, especially in the Economics Area (where Development is the central object of analysis); (where Environmental Management has gained prominence in the last decades and Accounting Sciences, a more recent area with the expansion of work on Environmental Accounting.). In addition, some suggestions were provided for the higher valuation and publicity of UFES production on SD.
