Resumo
This article suggests the reading and translation of the short stories El amor asesinado, El dominó verde, La novia fiel, El encaje roto and Sangre del brazo, from Emilia Pardo Bazán, Spanish writer from the second half of century XIX and beginning of century XX. By translating these short stories we look for strengthening the reading of this writer’s work, focusing specially on the syntactic semantic structure of the text. With a pessimistic view of love, Pardo Bazán makes her stories mirrors that reflect the situation of women and the ones who surround them. The couple’s relationship is the main theme, especially love failure and the non accomplishment of the dreams of happiness beside the beloved one. This work is supported by the stories of Pilar Folguera Crespo (1997) in Historia de las mujeres en España, watching the roles of gender recorded in Pardo Bazán writing, of Ángeles Quesada Novás (2005), to study the love within the analyzed stories, Michaël Oustinoff (2011), to discuss the translation as key operation of language and Antoine Berman (2007) for the topic of ethics in translation.
