The climate classification system organizes climate elements at various scales, defining different climate types found on the Earth's surface. This study proposes a new climate classification for the state of Espírito Santo by associating climatological variables such as the average temperature of the coldest month (TMMMF), the number of dry months, and rainfall with the influence of atmospheric systems and their impact on climate. The climate classification used in this thesis delineates climatic units in Espírito Santo, ranging from the global scale with Zonal Climate to the local scale with Topoclimate. Climatological data from the Chelsa algorithm were used to determine these climatic units. The analysis was conducted using two cartographic models generated in the free software Dinamica EGO, which is a data modeling platform enabling the association of spatial and non-spatial data using conditionals. The entire territory of Espírito Santo falls within the Hot Climate Zone. Three Zonal Climates were identified: Torrid Zonal Climate, Hot Zonal Climate, and Moderate Zonal Climate. Additionally, four Climate Domains were delineated: Temperate, Subtropical, Tropical Mild, and Tropical. Within the state of Espírito Santo, there are ten distinct climatic types: four humid, three semi-humid, two semi-dry, and one dry. By considering the associations between Domains, Subdomains, and Climate Types, a total of 46 different climate subtypes were identified in Espírito Santo. The climatic classes, up to the subtype level, did not have a significant distinguishing factor. The upper mesoclimate and topoclimate were only delimited in the municipality of Serra-ES. This allowed the climatic characteristics of the municipality to be analyzed at smaller geographic scales, providing more detailed local climatology that can be beneficial for planning both urban and rural activities.
