Resumo
This paper examines the journalistic coverage of the A Tribuna newspaper regarding affirmative actions and their implementation in the Federal University of Espirito Santo - Ufes. The paper challenges the newspaper's stance concerning the debate around the policy of reserving vacancies for black students in the only federal university in the state. The study has the general aim to analyze how the newspaper A Tribuna covered the impact of the affirmative action policy by the University - Ufes, in a way to identify its political-ideological positioning. For the specific aims the proposed are: a) Analyze the coverage by the media vehicle, to ascertain if it contributed to civil society's understanding of the relevance of affirmative action policies for the social and economic advancement of black people or if it reproduced racist biases; b) Quantify, in the established time frame, the issues published about the affirmative action policy adopted by Ufes; c) Identify the interviewers, who brings the perception of the presence and proportions between blacks and whites.
