dcterms.abstract | Essential oils from leaves of 22 genotypes P.guajava collected in an experimental plantations of different environments, located in Espírito Santo - Brazil, were extracted by hydrodistillation and characterized through analysis of FID-GC-MS. The average extraction yield was 0.4% (w/w). In total 33 compounds were identified representing 87.5 to 99.0% the total composition, with a predominance of sesquiterpenes in all samples. Sixteen volatile compounds have been identified as major, of which the most significant are: (E)-transCaryophyllene, alpha-Humulene, trans-Nerolidol, beta-Bisabolene, beta-Bisabolol and Hinesol. In the commercial genotypes (PAL, PS, SEC, ROX and PET) the predominant compounds were: (E)-trans-Caryophyllene, alpha-Selinene, Caryophyllene oxide, Hinesol, 14-hydroxy-9-epi-(E)-Caryophyllene, in the Cortibel genotypes (C1-C17) predominate Limonene, (E)-trans-Caryophyllene, alpha-Humulene, beta-Bisabolene, trans-Nerolidol, beta and alpha-Bisabolol. Were observed variations in the chromatographic profile of essential oil between environments, being more expressive in genotypes C7, C13 and C17 and less on genotypes C1, C5, C16 and PET. The different environmental conditions exerted influence in the variability of the chromatographic profile of the essential oil, being more expressive in the genotypes C7, C13 and C17 and less expressive in C1, C5, C16 and PET. The genotypes C10, C13 and SEC showed high levels of (E)-trans-Caryophyllene, C3 and C6 of alphaHumulene, C2, C8, C12, C15 and C16 of beta-Bisabolol, compounds that showed little influence of environmental conditions and have biological activity proven, which makes it feasible to use these genotypes in breeding programs, in the selection and crossing processes. Furthermore, the (E)-trans-Caryophyllene appears as a potential chemical marker for identification of the species. From the chemical composition of P.guajava oil by multivariate analysis of factors, were defined three chemotypes: Chemotype 1 (Commercial - PAL, SEC, PS, PET, C7, C11 and C17M) characterized by high levels of beta-Selinene, alpha-Selinene, Hinesol, 14-Hydroxy-epi-(E)-Caryophyllene, with beta-Selinene and alphaSelinene their chemical markers; Chemotype 2 (C10 and C13) showed elevated levels of Elemol, trans-Nerolidol, trans-beta-Eudesmol and (2Z, 6Z)-Farnesol, indicated as their chemical markers; Chemotype 3 (Cortibel - C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C8, C9, C12, C14, C15, C16, C17LI) characterized by elevated levels of alpha-Cedrene, cis-alpha-Bergamotene, alpha-Humulene, Humulene epoxide, epi-alpha-Cadinol, beta-Bisabolol, alpha-Bisabolol, with beta and alpha-Bisabolol indicated as their chemical markers. | eng |
