Resumo
The poultry slaughterhouse wastewater contains blood, offal, excrement, fat, substances contained in the digestive tract of animals, characterizing an effluent with a high concentration of organic matter. These residues generate a high volume of sludge during flotation effluent treatment. This sludge is burned in a boiler along with wood chips generating ashes final residue. This work aimed to analyze the possibility of using sludge and ashes as fertilizer and to propose the reuse of the combustion residue, the ashes, avoiding that this material is taken to landfill. For this purpose, the physicochemical characterization of the sludge and ash was performed and the use of ashes as a filter material for boiler smoke was proposed as a way to optimize its use. The use of primary refrigerant sludge burning along with the chip proved satisfactory in terms of sludge volume reduction, with a 95% reduction in its volume. The use of ash from the combustion of chips and sludge as a filter material was significantly effective in alkalizing the smoke emitted by the boiler chimney. The use of ashes in the company's pasture and environmental restoration areas, which are known to have high acidity, may be carried out, but periodic analyzes of the fertility and soil acidity levels of these areas should be implemented thus ensuring greater process sustainability.
