    Asset management comprises a set of activities that begins with the acquisition of permanent material and ends when it is withdrawn from the institution's assets. A great difficulty of asset management occurs when the good is no longer useful, that is, when the good becomes useless and must be appropriately allocated according to current legislation. Internal and external audits indicate difficulties in the management of assets during their life in the institutions. Asset management is a major challenge for CEUNES, especially with regard to useless assets, which causes problems such as the occupation of physical spaces and the deterioration of assets, as there is no appropriate place for the safekeeping of property. same. Efficient asset control helps reduce costs, increase transparency and simplify the process, which makes management in line with the principles of public administration. The main objective of this research was to conduct a survey of the useless assets of the Northern University Center of Espirito Santo Federal University of Espirito Santo. The research was descriptive in relation to the data collection technique and the bibliographic and documentary research was used. As for the choice of the object of study, it is classified as a case study. Thus, the study conducted a survey of disposable movable property and observed several non-conformities present in the procedures used by other servers, as well as by the place of storage of goods. Another relevant factor is that this was the first research carried out at the Center on the collection of existing disposable movable goods. Thus, the essence of the work is limited to the operationalization of previously established objectives. Given this, it was possible to determine several challenges faced daily by the servers responsible for the patrimony for its correct control. Among the problems encountered are the lack of adequate and controllable physical space for the safekeeping of useless assets, the managers' lack of training regarding the legislation, problems of loss, detachment or deterioration of the identification plate, lack of a policy of awareness for the reuse of assets collected in condition of use, among others. It is concluded with this research that the inconsistencies found in the management of disposable permanent assets occurs mainly because of the lack of knowledge of the legal provisions, so that such problem can be reduced and / or remedied it is essential that meetings and training are held with all servers. in order to discipline and standardize procedures and disseminate knowledge about asset management, so that you can have an efficient and effective control of asset management
