Resumo
This work aimed to investigate, from school textbooks, trends assumed by teachers
literacy of the municipality of Viana (ES) for the teaching of reading and writing in the
period 2000 to 2009. Search answer the following questions: what knowledge about
the writing system has been taught in the initial phase of liter acy in the municipality
researched? On which content/knowledge teachers of Viana has placed greater
attention to teach the students to read and? Theoretically, this research was based
on the contributions of Bakhtin and other authors, like Gumperz (1991), Braggio
(1992), Graff (1994), Macedo (2000), Gadotti (2005), Gontijo (2000, 2005, 2008),
Veiga (2007) and Perez (2008), that address different dimensions of literacy. The
methodology used was the documentary analysis, which had as corpus 28
notebooks of students and 22 notebooks for teachers. The analyzes of the
specifications have revealed that the proposed education for the learning of reading
and writing has been based on theoretical and methodological bases of imprint
mechanistic that have emphasized a pedagogical work based on learning the
alphabet with emphasis on the concept of syllable. In this process, there is a
gradation extremely slow introduction of apprentice in practices of reading and writing
to take the text as the unit of meaning produced b y subjects in different situations of
interaction. The specifications give indications that the literacy, in the municipality
researched, has been understood as a process restricted to the purchase of
mechanical skills of the language code.
