Valores organizacionais e suporte social no trabalho : a percepção dos servidores da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo-UFES

Resumo
This thesis aims to raise the perception of social support at work while element present or not present on the organization's values in the view of employees from a higher education federal institution. Therefore it was used a questionnaire with two models, the “Organizational Values Profile Inventory” (IPVO) (OLIVEIRA and TAMAYO, 2004) and the “Social Support Perceived at Work Scale” (EPSST) (GOMIDE JR., GUIMARÃES and DAMÁSIO, 2004) (apud SIQUEIRA and GOMIDE JR., 2008). The questionnaire was applied to the “Federal University of Espirito Santo State” (Ufes) employees, divided into two groups, according to their section, as follows: "administrative", representing the part of the formulation and management accountability; and "units" consisting of the sectors that compose the universities execution. Results encountered allowed to identify the profile of organizational values by area of activity, concluding that in the "administrative" area those values are perceived more strongly than in the "units", with "organizational prestige", "compliance" and "tradition" the values that stood out. Regarding social support was noticeable that for survey participants there is a perception of all social brackets, but the results indicate that respondents are not sure if they receive social support. With the data obtained from both models, it was used multivariate analysis, having as independent variables the organizational values and as dependent variables the social support. The results show that there are positive and negative influences in relation to "achievement", "conformity", "tradition", "autonomy" and "concern for the community." The result was in part alarming because the second place, "conformity", was a strongly identified value between servers, negatively affecting the social support. On the other hand, "Realization", which influenced positively, it ranked only fifth. It is therefore highlighted the relevance of the values in question and its interference in the organizational environment, as its positive influence strengthens the perception of social support within the group in question and may facilitate the processes of change and crises through less resistant adaptations, inhibiting stress caused by the environment where the person is. Finally, suggestions were made to enhance the positive results and, where possible, educate employees about the negative findings.
