Resumo
One thousand four hundred and fourty Japanese quails, in production phase, were used to evaluate valine and isoleucine digestible levels and antagonic effects of these amino acids on laying quails productive performance. Experimental units were distributed in a completely randomized design, in two experiments, one containing five different digestible valine levels (0,74; 0,81; 0,88; 0,95 and 1,02%) in two assays, and another one containing five different digestible isoleucine levels (0,64; 0,70; 0,76; 0,82 and 0,88%) in two assays. Both experiments had eight replicates and eight birds in each replicate. Corn-soybean diets were formulated to provide 2900kcal of metabolizable energy and 18% of crude protein. Birds had free access to the water and experimental diets during all the experimental period. Feed intake, weight gain, production rate, egg weight, egg mass, feed conversion, absolute and relative yolk, albumen and eggshell weight and Haugh unit were recorded and evaluated at the end of the experiment. In conclusion, laying quails diets should have 0,74% of digestible valine and 0,64% of digestible isoleucine to maximize the productive performance. Proportional raising of both amino acids levels could lead to a positive weight gain, but, at same time, decreases eggs quality
