Resumo
This text is the research result, part of a set of academic productions that deal with the relation
between literary literacy and objects of the school culture, specially the adaptations of the
children and young readers literature classics. This research objectives are: to map and
categorize the mechanisms that are part of the adaptation process of these workpieces and
discuss the possible contributions of the reading of the adaptations to the literary literacy. The
diologue with the production on the theme was organized by areas: literacies, literary literacy
and schooling; literature classics and the canon development and literary texts adaptations,
especially with the theorists : Bakhtin (1988,1992,2003), Eco (2004, 2008), Marinho (2010) e
Paulino (2004), Perrone-Moisés (1998, 2016). The corpus analysis were Kidnnaped by Robert
Louis Stevenson and The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. They were selected based
on two criterias: they were adaptations done of texts previously translated to Portuguese, in
order to exclusively identify the adaptation mechanisms that are part of the Program Literature
at My House´s collection. Thus, to develop upon the interpretative paradigm, the qualitative
research and the documentary comparative texts analysis of original and adapted work were
conducted mapping out and categorizing the mechanisms used by the adapters during the
process, analysis of the consequences of texts adaptations to the reading and the possible
contributions of this resource to the literary literacy. The adaptations mechanisms were
categorized into supressions, modifications and additions, that when applied in a variety of
ways, result in a new work, in which the most expressive intent is towards the maintenance of
the plot that significantly contributes to the development of a semantic reader, to whom the
aesthetic experience tends to be limited.
