Based on the postulates of Systemic-Functional Linguistics(HALLIDAY, 1985; 1994; HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2004; 2014; EGGINS, 2004), we understand transitivity as a phenomenon of semantic nature, regulated by the choices that speakers make in contexts of situation, which in turn regulate the syntagmatic relations that instantiate the different types of linearization of the forms of the lexical-grammatical paradigms. Data collection on the 48 reported sequences resulted in a set of 181 relational clauses. The observation of the representations instantiated by these clauses was permeated by the reflection on the problems: what are the semantic features and what are the ideational networks that underlie the activation of relational clauses in the sequences reported by victims of homophobic violence? The hypothesis that we seek to verify is that the morphosintactic and semantic configurations present specificities depending on the type and mode of relational clause analyzed, which evidences distinct communicative functions triggered by the use of these types of constructions. Data processing was guided by the qualitative research methodology (YIN, 2016), which values an interpretation of data based on greater accuracy, focusing on the specificities inherent to the phenomenon and the relationships that occur between the system of relational clauses and social reality. Our interest in the theme of homophobic violence is justified by the realization that Linguistics, and specifically Grammar, cannot remain out of alignment with the problems of our society, which results in a critical linguistic practice. We selected three procedures (which were configured recursive throughout the research) to achieve the general objective of describing the lexical-grammatical configurations that the system of relational construction assumes in terms of processes and participants in the 181 analyzed clauses. They are: (i) bibliographical survey, in order to give theoretical consistency to the investigation; (ii) data collection and compartimentalization; and (iii) analysis of the cut based on assumed theoretical assumptions. The analysis took as scope three dimensions in which the dynamics of relational constructions can be investigated, namely, the lexical-grammatical, the generic-textual and the analytical-discursive. Among the results obtained, the presence of intensive relational clauses was quite significant, as well as the applicability of descriptive parameters of a semantic nature. Based on the results of the analysis of the correlation between the parameters, we found that the relational clauses establish a presupposition relationship when considering the thematic roles selected by the process. Thematic roles occur in pairs, which leads us to the statement that the pairing of thematic roles in the system of relational clauses is one of the main semantic mechanisms responsible for the construction of relational meaning.
