- ItemA "graça" no campo da religião : uma análise retórica da pregação de Cláudio Duarte(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-02-22) Freitas, Franciely Corrêa de; Carmelino, Ana Cristina; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; Figueiredo, Maria FláviaThe field of religion tends to be characterized by a tone of seriousness, not humor. Perceiving the presence and a dissemination of humor in a religious social practice, case of preaching, which deals with matters related to the sacred and therefore considered serious, was the main motivation for the realization of this dissertation. In this sense, this research aims to investigate the role and relevance of humor in the religious preaching "Reconstructing the truths of God", pronounced by the pastor Cláudio Duarte. The hypothesis is that humor is extremely important in preaching, since it has the function of contributing to the effectiveness of the persuasive process. The theoretical apparatuses that support this study are from the Aristotelian rhetoric (ARISTÓTELES, 2000; 2011), the New Rhetoric (PERELMAN, OLBRECHTS-TYTECA, 2005, REBOUL, 2004; MEYER, 2007; FERREIRA, 2010), of theorists who address issues of humor (TRAVAGLIA, 1992; BERGSON, 2007; PROPP, 1992; PERELMAN; OLBRECHTS-TYTECA, 2005; CARMELINO, 2009; 2012) of the field of religion (CITELLI, 2005; NASCIMENTO, 2012; FIGUEIREDO; RODRIGUES, 2008) and the preaching genre (FIGUEIREDO et al., 2009). The analysis allowed us to verify some humor production techniques used in more recurrent way, in the case of the communion allusion figure, the arguments of contradiction and incompatibility, reciprocity, comparison, and the pragmatic. Besides that, the lexical choices and the prosodic elements were of great relevance for the argumentation and the construction of the humor. It was also possible to observe that, through the logos, the speaker constructs the image (ethos) of serious, informed, leader, irreverent and humble, besides moving passions (pathos), as calm, love, compassion, joy, confidence and a fear. In this way, the humor present in the preaching of Duarte is not used in an unpretentious way; In fact, it is a resource that contributes in an efficient way to the speaker's speech in order to achieve audience support.
- ItemA abordagem de problemas sociais em um livro didático de inglês: efeitos de sentido a partir da análise materialista de discurso(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2023-10-31) Silva, Guilherme Benedito Pereira da; Figueira, Luis Fernando Bulhoes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6630313342343566; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6100-1101; Zaidan, Junia Claudia Santana de Mattos; Furlan, Claudia Jotto Kawachi; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7226263950843874; Ferraz, Daniel de Mello; https://orcid.org/0000000284832423; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1090255590865526The proposed theme of the work aims to discuss the patrimonial responsibility of political parties in order to analyze the application, scope, relativization or flexibility of the non-seizability described in art. 833, item XI, of the Code of Civil Procedure (nonseizability of the party fund), especially after the creation of the electoral fund, which transformed mixed campaign financing in Brazil into predominantly public funding. The research seeks to answer the following questions: which values of the Parties can be the object of expropriation by creditors and interested parties who aim to receive debts? If the Parties do not have private funds, is it possible to make the party fund nonseizability more flexible? In which contexts? Should the special fund also be declared unseizable like the party fund? Through the deductive method of investigation, we seek to understand the peculiarities of the patrimonial responsibility of political parties. As a delimitation of the proposed theme, the main core of the research is the objective dimension of patrimonial responsibility, that is, it is limited to the analysis of which values can be expropriated. Therefore, the theme is approached in an evolutionary way and the dissertation was divided into three chapters. The first, in an introductory way, aims to address general concepts of electoral law, such as political parties, candidates, federations, coalitions, together with political financing in Brazil. The second chapter aims to study the general part of patrimonial responsibility and the regime of non-seizability. The third chapter deals specifically with the current context of party debts and the executions in which the parties are submitted, both in the scope of the Common Justice and in the scope of the Specialized Electoral Justice, specifically analyzing the non-seizability of party funds and electoral fund, in order to facilitate the receipt of amounts from political parties by creditors. Therefore, the area of concentration Process, Techniques and Protection of Existential and Patrimonial Rights of the Graduate Program in Procedural Law of the Federal University of Espírito Santo.
- ItemA aposição nos gêneros editorial e artigo de opinião : um enfoque funcionalista da linguagem(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2011-03-29) Damasceno, Gesieny Laurett Neves; Rocha, Lúcia Helena Peyroton da; Azeredo, José Carlos de; Olímpio, Hilda de Oliveira; Smarsaro, Aucione das DoresThis work evaluated the correlation between appositive constructions and communicative goals of editorial and opinion article genera. The research was carried out to attest the hypothesis that discursive, formal and semantic aspects of appositive constructions are strictly related to the socio-communicative goals of the selected genera. Regarding the research corpus, eighty-five occurrences of apposition in the genera editorial and opinion article from Veja magazine and Folha de S. Paulo and A Gazeta newspapers were analyzed. Functionalism linguistic concepts were selected as theory basis for the proposed discussions, because this linguistic approach studies the relation between grammatical structure of languages and the different communicative contexts in which they are used. After the frequency analysis of determinate syntactic forms, semantic relations and textual-discursive functions, it was concluded that appositive constructions significantly contribute to the accomplishment of communicative goals of editorial and opinion article genera.
- ItemA articulação da leitura e da escrita de textos acadêmicos para elaboração do TCC : análise de uma turma de pós Proeja na EAD(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-05-23) Lacerda, Luciane Ferreira; Casotti, Janayna Bertollo Cozer; Peres, Edenize Ponzo; Gomes, Antônio CarlosIn this work the researcher investigated teachers practice concerning the reading and writing of students from Post Proeja in online classes, aiming at analyzing the process of reading and writing academic texts for the course ending task (Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso / TCC)). As theoretical foundation, the concepts of literacy and academic literacy by Fiad (2013), Street (2010), Rojo (2004), Soares (2004) e Leffa (2001) among others were used. To gather the data for this research, a case study was chosen as part of the methodology when observations on interaction during online classes could be done in order to verify how the academic text is taught and required by the instructors. Besides those observations, there were also interviews with students and the course staff, subjects of this research. Considering the difficulty in writing the TCC, although many students in this research come from undergraduation courses where they had contact with this literacy gender, their TCC written performance is still inefficient. As a conclusion, it was evident that the academic writing constitutes a kind of literacy that shall be developed at college, because, for most of the students, this is a new gender and it only happens when the students enter college. So, teachers must instruct their students starting from the basic steps in the academic writing process, emphasizing their needs on reading, writing and rewriting the academic texts.
- ItemA concordância nominal de número no português falado na zona rural de Santa Leopoldina/ES(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2014-06-10) Lopes, Lays de Oliveira Joel; Scherre, Maria Marta Pereira; Lopes, Norma da Silva; Tesch, Leila Maria; Yacovenco, Lilian CoutinhoThis research analyzes the process of variable nominal concord in Brazilian Portuguese spoken in the rural Santa Leopoldina/ES. For this, we use as the basis for our assumptions the theoretical principles of Sociolinguistics Variationist. Our analysis was obtained from interviews, typically labovian lasting 50-60 minutes. The Sociolinguistics Variationist considers the study of language associated predominantly to the social context it occurs, in terms of Labov (2008 [1972], p 291). Therefore, we stratified our speakers as follows: age - 7-14 years; 15 -25 years; 26-49 years; and older than 49 years; sex/gender - male and female; years of schooling - one to five years; six to nine. For a control of linguistic environment in which our variants occur, we considered five independent linguistic variables: nominal phonics salience, linear and relative position combined with grammatical class, previous marks, animacy of nouns, grade and formality of nouns and adjectives. Moreover, we did a comparative study between rural and urban areas, considering our results and those obtained by Scherre (1988) - with the Portuguese spoken in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), in the 1980s; by Scherre & Naro (2006) - with the Portuguese spoken in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), in the 2000s; and, finally, by Silva (2011) - spoken with the Portuguese spoken in Vitória (ES), in the 2000s. Thereby, we hope contribute to mapping of speech capixaba variety.
- ItemA concordância verbal na fala de Vitória(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2016-03-29) Benfica, Samine de Almeida; Scherre, Maria Marta Pereira; Yacovenco, Lilian Coutinho; Berlinck, Rosane de AndradeThe central purpose of this research is to analyze the phenomenon verb agreement in first and third person plural in Portuguese spoken in Vitória - ES. Therefore, we will use the theoretical assumptions of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008 [1972]), which is also a reference to numerous studies about the verbal agreement variable in several communities in Brazil and in the world. Linguists in this area believe that the language is heterogeneous and that there are factors of linguistic and social order acting on it, which makes it manifest so many variations. It is our interest to identify these factors and understand their systematization of this strongly stereotyped phenomenon. The development of this research, which has a quantitative and qualitative character, ocurred through the analysis of interviews, drawn from two samples of Portuguese spoken in Vitória: the first, a more careful speech, is the “Português falado na cidade de Vitória” (Portvix), comprising typically 46 labovian interviews (YACOVENCO, 2009; 2012); the second, in casual speech, composed of three recordings (CALMON, 2010). Our analyzes are more focused on the more careful speech. We treat separately the variable verbal agreement in first person plural and in third person plural, because we believe that these are two dependent variables with different properties, but also with a few similarities. For the statistical treatment of the data from our corpus, we use the Goldvarb X program (SANKOFF; TAGLIAMONTE; SMITH, 2005). Of a global total of 3616 verbal occurrences, 521 are in first person plural, with 90,4% of tokens with plural marking, and 3095 are in third person plural, with 78,8% of tokens with plural marking. In general, our analysis reinforces the idea that the third person plural and first person plural are different dependent variables, which is justified, mainly, for three reasons: incidence rate in speech, overall agreement and social significance of each. Still, in both variables, the results indicate a shift toward standard variant, with the highest incidence of agreement in the speech of younger and more educated.
- ItemA constituição da subjetividade em raps dos Racionais MC's(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2009-03-20) Moreira, Tatiana Aparecida; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; Nascimento, Jorge Luiz do; Almeida, Júlia Maria CostaThe objective of this dissertation is to investigate the composition of subjectivity in “Nothing like a day after another” (“Nada como um dia após o outro dia”), the 2002 Rational Mc’s group double-CD (grupo Racionais MC’s). In order to reveal this subjectivity by means of analysis of the rap discourse genre, some concepts proposed by Bakhtin (1976[1926], 1995[1929], 2003[1979]) are methodologically used: dialogism, active responsive attitude, intonation (tune). Besides these bakhtinian conceptions, which represent the theoretical basis for this research, other notions are also evoked as Maingueneau’s (1997[1987], 2004[1998], 2005, 2006, 2008) and Amossy’s (2005) proposal of discursive ethos, together with the notion of style adopted by Granger (1974[1968]) and Possenti (2001a[1988], 2001b), as well as the articulations between style and ethos discussed by Discini (2003, 2008) and Mussalin (2008). Thus, the analysis focuses on the dialogic responsive position of the speakers in relation to themselves and to their interlocutors, specially the “trout” (o “truta”) and the “lands” (“senhor de engenho”). Subjectivity may be found within the rap-songs by means of indicators (GINZBURG, 2002[1989]) presented when data is analysed. These initial data show that subjectivity shows up in the dialogic process in which the “I” maintains with the “other”, the “brother” and the “master of property”. Thus, the “I” becomes the “other” – of which it is composed, and vice versa.
- ItemA construção da imagem social de Marjane Satrapi na graphic novel Persépolis via referenciação e atos de fala de (des)cortesia(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2018-02-20) Figueira, Mayra Duarte; Lins, Maria da Penha Pereira; Souza Junior, Rivaldo Capistrano de; Santos, Leonor Werneck dosRelationships between interlocutors essentially constitute a demonstration and a threat to the face of locutors and utterers. For this reason, during enunciations individuals normally intend to, via different speech acts and politeness strategies, avoid conflicts in order not to deconstruct neither their own nor others’ faces. This is due to a tacit agreement socially established in order to promote harmonic social interaction. However, there are situations in which intentional linguistic behaviors that break with the principle of harmony, with the purpose of informing speech acts such as distaste and insurgency. Moreover, in different sociointeractional contexts, the choice and the expansion of an object of discourse can sign out, case by case, acts of courtesy and discourtesy, and build, thus, a face for subjects. Faced with these arguments, this dissertation aims to scrutinize linguistic and non-linguistic performance of author surrogate Marjane, central character of Persepolis, a graphic novel fully edited in 2007. Its main hypothesis is that the main character deploys (dis)courtesy acts, that contribute to the representation of faces in social constructs. Among them, performative acts that reveal themselves to be a way to materialize an action announced by the character Marjane and, thus, to construct a representation of her face. Therefore, this character’s linguistic behavior will be analyzed stemming from the interface of Pragmatics and Textual Linguistics. Pragmatic studies will be approached based on Goffman (1975), regarding the construction of a social image, Brown e Levinson (1987), regarding politeness strategies and the construction of faces and Austin (1990) regarding speech acts. Also, we will base ourselves in Koch (2001, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2015), Cavalcante (2009, 2011) e Mondada e Dubois (2003), regarding studies on reference, categorization, and recategorization. Additionally, we will bring upon the studies of Cavalcante e Custódio Filho (2010), Ramos (2012) e Lins e Capistrano Jr. (2014) about reference and multimodality. In respect of this textual genre, we will base ourselves on the work of Ramos (2009) e Ramos e Figueira (2011).
- ItemA construção de face e a (im)polidez linguística em entrevistas de Veja(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2010-03-04) Guimarães, Silvia Bragatto; Lins, Maria da Penha Pereira; Lyrio, Aurélia Leal Lima; Galembeck, Paulo de TarsoInterviews are face to face interactions in which the interviewer and the interviewee interact verbally exposing, both, their social self image (the face). Thus, the one involved in the verbal interaction always incurs in the risk of showing what is not wanted and not what is intended to show. To prevent this from occurring, the interlocutors of the conversation adopt strategies that provide the control of the face building , in a double game of preservation and threatening of the self image. The concern to preserve the social image always accompanies individuals, and this phenomenon can be clearly seen in interviews. In this study the focus is in the verbal interaction context in interviews from personas of the national politics to Veja magazine, published in 2008 and 2009. It"s analyzed, in these interviews, how the faces (positive face and negative face) enrolled in the conversation, both interviewer and interviewee, are built, kept and threatened by the interlocutors themselves, by the use or not of linguistics strategies of politeness. The key questions that guide this study are: which politeness strategies are used during the interaction? What are the reasons for not using politeness in the speech of both interviewer and interviewee during the interaction? What does “losing the face” means to each involved in the interaction? If each one"s position, interviewer and interviewee, occupies in this interactions space (where the confrontation is demanded) is not of equality, is it that both will have polite attitudes, protecting their faces?
- ItemA construção do humor no instagram: uma análise tecnodiscursiva das tiras e dos comentários conversacionais(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2020-08-20) Santos, Amalia Pratte; Almeida, Júlia Maria Costa de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2430-4116; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3648370916765504; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6537-1019; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5978754906491680; Figueira, Luís Fernando Bulhões; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0748-4987; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6630313342343566; Costa, Ilioni Augusta da; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7087-4200; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1800353439546137The research work developed aims to analyze the construction of humor in the digital environment. The corpus, composed of comic strips posts by the author Carlos Ruas and its comments, was selected on the digital platform Instagram within the content of Um Sábado Qualquer page. In order to understand the construction of humor in the comic strips and comments, complementary theories were used: the analysis of digital discourse by M. A. Paveau (2017), with a focus on comments and discursive augmentation; V. Raskin's semantic scripts of humor theory (1985) and S. Possenti's theory of humorous discourse (2018). Together, these theories allowed us to understand the construction, both humorous and discursive of the comic strips and their relationship with the digital environment which they’re inserted. The research resulted in notes for a relationship between the primary text and conversational comments, indicating that the formation of humor in digital environments such as Instagram permeates a sequence of humorous acts, made possible by the discursive augmentation through comments.
- ItemA correspondência sintático-semântica do verbo apagar com os verbos ter, perder, tirar : uma descrição para processamento automático de linguagem natural(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-03-31) Schneider, Keila Mara; Smarsaro, Aucione das Dores; Yacovenco, Lilian Coutinho; Laporte, Eric Guy ClaudeThis research presents a syntactic-semantic description of the verb apagar, in particular an analysis of its syntactic-semantic alternation with the verb tirar, for example, 1) O psicólogo apagou o vício de João (The psychologist ended João’s addiction) and 2) O psicólogo tirou o vício de João (The psychologist removed João’s addiction) and the syntactic-semantic alternation with the verbs ter and perder, for example,3) João tem um vício (João has an addiction), 4) João perdeu o vício (João lost his addiction). The analyses are based on the theoretical-methodological model of the Lexicon-Grammar (GROSS, 1975), which defines formal, syntactic criteria for lexical description. These criteria are applied in simple sentences, extracted through searches in dictionaries or on the web, or constructed and judged acceptable or inacceptable by native speakers. The result of the description is presented in the format of a Lexicon-Grammar table, which is an element of a lexical database, wich can be used in Natural Language Processing (NLP), thus contributing to the improvement and creation of software that aim to recognize Portuguese sentence structures.
- ItemA educação crítica em língua inglesa em uma comunidade desfavorecida do Espírito Santo : eu, o outro, e o outro eu(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2018-03-01) Fonseca, Camila Oliveira; Ferraz, Daniel de Mello; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; Duboc, Ana Paula MartinezThis collaborative action research aims at identifying and analyzing the relationships established in social and pedagogical practices in the context of English language education in a public school of a disadvantaged community in Espírito Santo, as well as intervening in the studied context, focusing on justice in relationships, departing from the action and interaction between the subjects involved in the educational process, in a democratic and emancipatory way. The research understands as disadvantaged the community which is subalternized by the hierarchy of power relations, and for this reason finds few opportunities of access to economic, social, cultural and symbolic capital (BOURDIEU, 1987). Considering the identities, subjectivities, alterities, cultures, the tension between local and global and between self and other, this research problematizes the education in English language by means of guiding questions, to wit: What do these students think of the English language in terms of access, possibilities and learning? Do the classes take into account the students’ context and their reality? What are the expectations of students involved in the English language education process? Do they envisage actively participating in the transformation of power relations or do they only wish to reproduce the dominant model? Based on the analysis of the collected data, the present research proposes a reflection about pedagogical practices in the field of English language education and suggests a discussion about the importance of developing critical awareness and the agency of the subjects through education. This research seeks to contribute to a critical education that focuses on situated pedagogical practices which are open to horizontal dialogue, prioritizing the local context and valuing the differences, in order to promote justice by re-signifying the relations between self and other in the school context.
- ItemA eficácia da instrução pragmática : o ensino e a aprendizagem de pedidos entre aprendizes de inglês(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2016-11-04) Barros, Angélica Coelho; Lins, Maria da Penha Pereira; Borges, Cibele Brandão de Oliveira; Casotti, Janayna Bertollo CozerPragmatic Studies show that linguistic competence alone is not enough for learners of a foreign language to be able to suit utterances to different communicative contexts. Authors such as Brown and Levinson (1978) and Trosborg (1994) stated that the lack or inappropriate use of pragmatic principles can generate negative conclusions in relation to the speaker and / or listener. These can be misinterpreted and misjudged rude, unfeeling, uncooperative, disrespectful, among others, during specific circumstances of communication. This may occur with significant frequency among individuals from different communities, therefore, English learners as a foreign language or second language need to be significantly more aware of the function of speech and the degree of linguistic politeness in face to face interactions. However, even though many studies suggest that the teaching and learning of a foreign language must include a pragmatic instruction in order for learners to improve their communicative competence, many approaches of regular schools and of language teaching centers, still gives priority to communicative competence development. Studies such as Kasper and Schmidt (1996) and Bardovi-Härlig (2001) argue that pragmatic instruction, especially those aimed at the mitigation of speech acts are important to complement the communicative competence of learners. Thus, the objective of this study is to propose the improvement of the communicative competence of 29 advanced learners of English as a foreign language aged between 18 and 30 years. To do this, a pragmatic instruction was used and aimed at the teaching and learning of 11 politeness strategies. This study is based on the theory of speech acts of Austin (1962) Searle (1969, 1975) on the concept of politeness of Brown and Levinson (1978) and on the classification of request strategies of Trosborg (1994). The results of this research showed that after the pragmatic instruction apprentices showed a greater use of politeness strategies and made use of strategies that were not observed in the pre-test results. Thus, a significant increase of strategies in the performance of the apprentices was observed in the posttest when compared to the pretest results.
- ItemA escrita e reescrita de artigos de opinião em sala de aula : idas e vindas de um processo(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015-08-26) Tassan, Sabrina Pinto Ferraz; Casotti, Janayna Bertollo Cozer; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; Magalhães, Tânia GuedesKnowing how to verbally act in a protagonist way, in other words, knowing how to contend, position yourself critically, recognizing that the speeches are socially and historically placed, it has become essential in order to meet the demands of a society immerse in the institutionalized literacy methods. Thus, this research theme is the practice of reading and production of opinion articles in the classroom and aims to examine methodologies that purport to assist these language practices in primary school. Thus, we investigated the production of the opinion piece as a support mechanism for reflection on controversial issues under discussion in society, supported by didactic sequence, as well as the guiding ticket, dialogical procedure of support in the rewriting process. For this, we seek first the theoretical foundations that underlie the design of text - genres, according to Bakthin (2003), Marcuschi (2008); didactic sequence, by Dolz e Schneuwly (2010); advisor ticket (textual - interactive tickets) according to Ruiz (2010); argumentation, according to Charaudeau (2010); and Textual and rolling according Bronckart (2012). From this perspective, we intend to analyze, from the context of production of opinion articles produced by high school students, the first version in comparison with the second version performed during the production process. This analytical work allows us to see how reading and discussion of the topic are paramount to that writing can be effected as a practice that helps in critical emancipation of the student, especially because it is a genre that is organized based on themes controversial and therefore requires analytical and reflective positioning.
- ItemA escrita surda como ela é : estudo da iconicidade em textos de usuários da libras(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-09-26) Cruz, Silvania Dueles da; Rocha, Lúcia Helena Peyroton da; Casotti, Janayna Bertollo Cozer; Rodrigues, Violeta VirgíniaThe study presents an analysis of the written production of the deaf student user of LIBRAS from the point of view of one of the principles of Functionalism: iconicity. From the manifestations of this principle postulated by North American theorists and the iconic devices mentioned by Taub (2004), the work seeks, insofar as it also presents aspects of the spatial syntax of the Brazilian Sign Language, to identify the sub-functions and iconic motivating devices Of the constructions and syntactic choices that constitute the written production of the deaf user of this modality as L1.The learning of the written mode of the Portuguese language is recognized in this research as a challenge in the classroom and, therefore, the need to understand the motivations of the deaf student in their syntactic constructions in both the signaled and written oral languages. From the analyzes of the records found, the research indicates to proposals and strategies of teaching of the written modality of the Portuguese language that use the iconic relations as a resource that will optimize the learning process. From texts collected in resource rooms, as well as in regular classes of Portuguese Language, shows the most recurrent structures found in said corpus, associating such structures with the iconic devices present in the spatial syntax of LIBRAS, which makes the text of the deaf person Symbolically motivated, characterized by arrangements similar to those of the signaled language. Thus, in addition to promoting a study on the relevance of the iconic subprinciples in the written Portuguese of the deaf student, the work intends to provide a change in the look on their written productions and, through the recognition that the iconic devices present in the LIBRAS are reflected in their Texts, bring those who with such texts have a better understanding of them, that is, to know the Deaf Writing as it is.
- ItemA estratégia discursiva da rotulação : léxico, argumentação e textualidade(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2011-02-18) Alves Junior, Mário Acrisio; Olímpio, Hilda de Oliveira; Lins, Maria da Penha Pereira; Elias, Vanda Maria da SilvaThis research aims to investigate the behavior of labels in texts belonging to genre of the jornalistic/media field, based on a social-interactional and discursive conception of language, and being guided by the widespread idea that the labelling process acts from the textual level to the level of enunciation through its multi-funcionality: it operates the organization of the textual and discoursive surface, besides being na important semantic-argumentative tool. Thus, this study focuses on recurring topics in research about labelling, as well as about other issues that should be better discussed, such as the relationship between labelling and typological sequences. Moreover, the analysis also addresses the role of enunciative modalization demonstrated by the employment of labels in texts. Labels, thus not only organize the text, but carry information about the textual contents and opinions of the speaker about certain topics, standing frequently in sentenses such comment. Throughout the text, these comments appear making the link between textual units of more complex statute which are classified by Bronckart as types of discourse.
- ItemA estrutura V + CV não expresso + SADV/SPREP : uma análise funcionalista(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2024-12-16) Vieira, Rafaelly Bonadiman; Damasceno, Gesieny Laurett Neves ; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6556-9968; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1635569588468079; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-2032-3707; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0818971416777835; Tesch, Leila Maria ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3919-1230; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9705222558363890; Dias, Nilza Barrozo; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3521-508X; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0108502697827072The study The structure V + unexpressed CV + SAdv/SPrep: a functionalist analysis has as its research problem the relationship between the suppression of the verbal complement, especially of the direct object type, and the presence of adverbial value syntagm(s) or adverbial clause in postposition to the verb, apparently occupying a spatial position that would be of the verbal complement. It is important to understand whether the formation of this structure (V + unexpressed CV + SAdv/SPrep/ adverbial clause) is linked to the behavior of adverbials in the Information Structure domain. The hypothesis is that these can perform functions that go beyond adjunction and motivate different argument configurations, in which the adverbial syntagma, the prepositional syntagma or the adverbial clause behaves, pragmatically, as new information. Systemic-Functional Linguistics is adopted as the theoretical basis, a branch of Linguistic Functionalism. The corpus consists of 60 (sixty) reports published by diverse authors in Veja magazine, between 2018 and 2022, in which 64 occurrences of the phenomenon under analysis were found. The texts were collected from the magazine's virtual collection based on two pre-defined criteria: subject and date of publication, so that one report was selected from each month, without repeating the subject among the twelve collected each year. After collecting the journalistic texts, the occurrences of unexpressed complements, whether or not followed by circumstances, were identified. These were subjected to thirteen analysis parameters: (i) Presence of SAdv, SPrep or adverbial clause in postposition to the verb, in the absence of an expressed verbal complement; (ii) Presence of punctuation between the verb and SAdv, SPrep or adverbial clause; (iii) Formal expression of the adverbial; (iv) Mobility of SAdv, SPrep or adverbial clause; (v) Type of verbal complement not expressed; (vi) Nature of the elided complement; (vii) Formal expression of the referent of the elided complement; (viii) Type of subject; (ix) Syntactic-semantic integration between Circumstance and Process; (x) Type of Process; (xi) Semantic role of the Circumstance component; (xii) Animacy of the complement's antecedent; and (xiii) Behavior of SAdv, SPrep or adverbial clause within the domain of the Information Structure. This study adopted qualitative methods in the descriptive analysis of the data and the direction it can take and carried out a quantitative systematization using the R software to verify the simple correlation between the variables. The results indicate that (i) the complements not expressed in the cases under analysis encode the known information, and the new information is the responsibility of the SAdv, the SPrep or the adverbial clause, although not exclusively; (ii) there is a tendency for the presence of syntagma(s) with adverbial value in postposition to the verb, in the absence of an expressed verbal complement, to serve to preserve the filling of the item on the right of the verb; and (iii) the statistical analysis of the corpus revealed seven significant correlations, including a 90% correlation between Presence of SAdv, SPrep or adverbial clause in postposition to the verb, in the absence of an expressed verbal complement (PPA) and Formal expression of the adverbial (EXA). The high percentage is due to two factors: when the PPA variable is marked with the Absent category, EXA does not apply; and when the PPA variable is marked with the Present class, EXA tends to be a prepositional syntagma
- ItemA expansão das perífrases de gerúndio no português brasileiro(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2011-09-01) Basilio, Jucilene Oliveira Sousa; Scherre, Maria Marta Pereira; Salles, Heloisa Maria Moreira Lima; Yacovenco, Lilian CoutinhoIn this survey the variation that exists in the use of periphrasis along with the present continuous of the Brazilian Portuguese is investigated under the light of Variationist Sociolinguistics to make a boundary in the systematization of the linguistic variation in which the structure be+present continuous (estar+gerúndio) is inserted in the following fields: present, infinitive non-future and infinitive future. These areas build variable potential models of the discursive genre register. We tried to understand which factors influenced the alternation in the customary present field ( along with habitual reading), in constructions as “ …how do you always forget everything… we are insisting on calling you to hang on the party…”; infinitive , on enunciations like “…the secretary came here to be signing the current document…”; and, the future infinitive in structures like this “It is about the seminary we are going to be talking first”. Taking as reference a corpus drew from the non-orthodox Labov’s variation methodology, we got results through a statistic elaboration of data in the programs Varbrul, version GoldVarb X, that generated the effects showed on this survey.
- ItemA exploração das máximas conversacionais de grice como estratégia argumentativa em charges e comentários no Instagram(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-10-15) Silva, Jucélia Azevedo dos Santos; Lins, Maria da Penha Pereira; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2192-7791; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7643527512641692; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5228-7985; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1956193469777396; Oliveira, Mônica Lopes Smiderle de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4973-7129; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6910760911003070; Vidon, Luciano Novaes; https://orcid.org/0000000322316279; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3136561352267602The purpose of this research is to observe the relationship between the theory of implicatures (Grice (1982 [1975]) and argumentative approaches, with the aim of highlighting when Gricean conversational maxims are explored for persuasive purposes in the digital environment. It is noted that, each More and more, people use the digital environment as a space for interaction, whether to produce texts or to consume them. Therefore, in order to understand the use of language in this space, we propose, from a pragmatic perspective, to analyze interactions on the social network Instagram, which permeates different textual genres such as advertising, news, cartoons, comments, among others. To this end, we investigated two of these genres, published on the @laertegenial profile, which have an argumentative dimension: the cartoon and the comment. We analyzed 9 political cartoons, published between March and September 2019, and 53 comments. In both genres, we noticed that the violation of maxims occurred frequently and intentionally, to cause a certain effect on the interlocutors through implicatures, whether to criticize, denounce or persuade the other. We argue that Instagram often functions as an “arena” for public debate, as people are always interacting and positioning themselves. In the space reserved for comments, it is possible to observe these positions and how the debate takes place between users who take an argumentative stance. Furthermore, the information is conveyed not only explicitly, but, above all, implicitly. This means that, in the virtual environment, as well as in face-to-face interaction, people communicate using implicatures and, consequently, argue using implications. In addition to pragmatics, the analysis present in this work is based on studies by Koch (2018), Koch and Elias (2018), Fiorin (2020) and Amossy (2020), whose work proposals helped to understand how the language speaker produces his argumentation.

Identified by variationist studies such as those by Paredes Silva (1988), Duarte (1995; 2018 [1993]), Genuíno (2017) and Massariol (2018), this change consists of the growing need to express the subject of verbs with a personal pronoun. The introduction of the new forms "você" (you), "vocês" (you're), and "a gente" (we're) into the Brazilian Portuguese personal pronoun system is considered a trigger for this process. Because they are derived from nominal syntagms, these new pronouns share their verb forms with the third person, creating the need for expression to avoid ambiguity. We used 12 written plays from Espírito Santo as our analysis material, from which 4,785 data points were collected. The plays were distributed across four synchronies spanning a period from the late 19th century to the early 2000s. We sought to investigate the influence of linguistic and social factors on the change, always bearing in mind that the linguistic production under analysis is an artistic creation by the authors, who project onto the characters their perception of the linguistic usage of their time. The overall results confirmed our hypothesis that the second person would be the most altered throughout the synchronies, as it underwent the introduction of the new pronominal forms in both the singular and plural. The 1st and 3rd person pronouns showed very similar trajectories, with an unexpected drop in frequency in period III. Thus, our hypothesis that the 1st person, with the stabilization of the use of the pronoun "a gente," would show more changes than the 3rd person was not confirmed. We observed a predominance of the influence of linguistic factors over social ones, which was expected, given that we are dealing with a phenomenon considered below the level of consciousness. Despite this, social factors also proved significant, which is not typically the case in studies on this phenomenon, indicating that the expression of the pronominal subject was used as a resource to characterize the characters.
