It understands that graffiti has hybrid components flirting with a series of artistic doings of the visual arts (such as painting, urban interventions and the graffiti itself) and also literary, as with subversion, criminal, cultural and political resistance. The subject of this study belongs to the field of spatial imagination based on the thoughts from the geographer Doreen Massey, which states that the implicit assumptions we make in relation to the space are significant. In this sense, it understands the imagination as a mechanism for production of images, as it creates ways of conceiving the space within all its implications, in social and political effects. The documents reviewed for this study are the recent research on the graffiti interventions over the city and it serves as the basis for the notions on the city that are endowed in their discourses. The goal is to set urban space and the images in order to establish how the urban graphical interventions - Tags and Graffiti - blur the established boundaries in the city's territory. Therefore, it seeks to comprehend how the territories are the result of interactions between social relations and space control, a powerful relationship in a broad sense, at the same time more concretely (domination) and symbolic (a type of appropriation as in those cases where we will analyze). Controlling the space is traditionally done by demarcation, through limits and boundaries, and also the discourses insert on the elements that make up the urban spatiality, which means to diminish or weaken the control over it. Thus, increasing the dynamic fluidity mobility of other aesthetic, information and alternative discourses to the public policies, priorities and hegemonic perspectives. The work of intervening is not to manipulate the pictorial elements, but to be appropriate from the material elements of cities and from their inhabitants movements that make the territory to communicate or to sensitize their audience. It is in this sense that the political, economic, and social issues are aspects passing through the understanding of urban graphical intervention.
- ItemA cobertura do jornal A Gazeta sobre a titulação de comunidades remanescentes de quilombos (1988-2017)(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2019-05-07) Silva, Girley Vieira da; Zanetti, Daniela; Andrade, Patrícia Gomes Rufino; Oliveira, Osvaldo Martins; Souza, Rafael Bellan Rodrigues deThis research, carried out within the scope of the Post-Graduate Program in Communication and Territorialities of the Federal University of Espírito Santo, is part of the Research and Communication Research Line. It is a study in the area of Communication and Politics with the purpose of analyzing the participation of the newspaper A Gazeta, a company belonging to the largest communication group of Espírito Santo, in the dynamics of social power around the dispute for quilombola areas in the interior of the state. Although the demarcation of quilombolas territories is a guaranteed right to quilombo remnants since the enactment of the Federal Constitution in 1988, no area was destined in this state until the conclusion of this research. However, only the beginning of the processes aimed at the realization of this right was sufficient to generate a reaction from ideologically opposed groups, who began to occupy and mobilize important instruments of exercise of social power, such as the State and the press, to guarantee the preservation of their interests . And it was to this reaction that this work directed his look, especially to the news and reports published by A Gazeta in the year of 2007 and interviews with representatives of the ethnic group approached as counterpoint to the discourse of the media. For the accomplishment of the analyzes of this corpus composed by 12 occurrences we are supported, mainly, in the theoretical-methodological framework of the framing analysis. For this, for example, we have observed the assumptions of Stuart Hall in his cultural studies and analyzes of the media and of Robert Entman and his contributions in relation to the framing analysis paradigm. From the analysis of these journalistic texts it was possible to perceive that the space of media visibility built around this theme privileged ideas and subjects contrary to the demarcation of quilombolas territories, mainly by means of the production and placement of economist-type frameworks that attribute to the execution of this policy possible social and financial damages and portray in a discriminatory and racist way the way of life of these communities. In addition, while highlighting the frameworks favorable to the members of the hegemonic group involved in the dispute (landowners and agribusiness multinationals), the newspaper also silenced the arguments of the quilombolas fundamental for understanding the importance of titling, such as those related to cultural aspects , the ancestry and the dynamics of land use as a space for the production of identities and subjectivities of the communities.

From the study, it was verified the characteristics and elements that serve to the audience to recognize the legitimacy of the message issued by the speakers authorized to talk about the subject - the presenter and physicist Brian Greene and the scientists interviewed - and the translational potential of specialized speech into the simple and common language of everyday life. The development of the work began with the reflection about contemporaneity, the production of knowledge and the science popularization; then it discussed discursive competence and linguistic exchanges, as well as the relations between scientific field, territory and communication; finally, we come to the analysis of the three episodes that deal with the development of String Theory, when it was understood the agents habitus dispositions resulting from their practices legitimized by the scientific field that give them the linguistic capital necessary to generate favorable symbolic profit to their speech.
- ItemA comunicação da pastoral operária da arquidiocese de Vitória de 1977 a 1985 e nos anos 2010 : estratégias, cotejos e apontamentos(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2018-09-12) Dal Gobbo, Elaine Rodrigues; Rebouças, José Edgard; Guerrieri, Maurício Abdalla; Martinuzzo, José AntônioThis dissertation seeks to understand the participation of the communication of Worker Pastoral of the Archdiocese of Vitória in the mobilization of workers in two different moments. The first period is between 1977 and 1985. The second is the 2010s decade. With regard to the late 1970s and mid-1980s, the study object is informative Ferramenta, the main media of Worker Pastoral, as well as the economic, political, social and ecclesial contexts of this period. In 2010, in addition to these contexts in the present moment, the communication from the Archdiocese of Vitória was studied and later, specifically, for the communication of the Worker Pastoral. For the theoretical approach, Church documents were used in the first chapter, such as the Encyclical Rerum Novarum, Quadragesimo Anno, Gaudium Et Spes, Vatican II; and the documents of the Episcopal Conferences of Medellín and Puebla. It was also used a book from the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) to discuss the concept of social ministry and its origin, as well as authors such as Vito Giannotti, Idelfonso Camacho, Gustavo Gutierrez, Frei Betto, Paulo Freire e Ana Maria Doimo. In the second chapter the authors used were Bordenave, Milton Santos, Manuel Castells, José Antônio Martinuzzo, Cicília Peruzzo, Maria da Glória Gohn, Luiz Beltrão, Gustavo Cardoso, Cláudia Lamy, Manuel Carlos Chaparro, Paulo Freire e Joana Puntel. From the documents of the Church, in the second chapter were studied the Inter Mirífica Decree, which is one of the documents of the Second Vatican Council; the documents of Medellín, Puebla and Santo Domingo with respect to communication; the Directory of Communication of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil and the speeches of Pope Francisco on the World Day of Social Communication. In the third chapter, the authors studied were Ricardo Lara, Mauri Antônio da Silva, Henrique Cristiano José Matos, Maria da Penha Smarzaro Siqueira. In addition to the bibliographic research, the methodological procedures used include interviews, content analysis of informative tool and participant observation. The study concludes that the success of the informative tool was due to factors such as institutional support of the Church to the work of social pastoral and, consequently, popular communication as an instrument of social mobilization; historical context of mobilization of the working class, among others. The research also points out that the communication of the Pastoral Worker today reflects the weakening of the pastoral ministry itself because of a scenario of demobilization of popular movements and a new project of the Church, which leaves social issues aside, for example. Moreover, within this new church project, popular communication is not contemplated.
- ItemA comunicação dos movimentos sociais como meio de empoderamento para a cidadania(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2016-04-05) Antolini, Marialina Côgo; Rebouças, José Edgard; Henriques, Rafael Paes; Peruzzo, CiciliaThis research seeks to understand the relationship between communicative processes and the citizenship’s achievements. Here, communication is perceived in its broadest sense – it includes the mass media information, that brings information and entertainment, but are often manipulated by economic interests; the alternative media, which amplifies voices and fight for rights, especially those practiced by the social movements; and the interpersonal communication, dialogic, which permeates people’s everyday processes and the public spheres discussions, generating debate. All these "communications" are perceived as an essential part of understanding what is citizenship, the way it evolves and influences the manner citizens are seen as such. Social movements are analyzed as a fundamental part of this issue, since they act as the principal agents of struggle for rights in contemporary societies. This study justifies itself as it seeks to contribute to the understanding of the relationship between the communication processes that permeate the daily life of civil society, from the communication analysis involving social movements. The main proposition is the communication in all its aspects is essential to these movements while actors in the fighting for rights and citizenship’s strengthening. For this, we present a historical and the current discussion of the concepts of citizenship, human rights, participation and social movements and their relations with the communication field. The goal is to contribute to the understanding of the relationship between communication, democratic processes and the construction of citizenship, systematically little researched yet. This theoretical study uses as methodology the literature survey in order to identify, discuss and relate concepts already developed by researchers from the different fields addressed. - ItemA construção do mito Sergio Moro em Veja e CartaCapital: o herói e o justiceiro no jornalismo de revista(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2023-05-31) Evangelista, Vitor Carletti; Gentilli, Victor Israel; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9952-2949; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1211108089835283; https://orcid.org/0009-0008-8196-2143; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0618076606001089; Machado, Marcia Benetti; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1621-8421; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7742913108842534; Souza, Rafael Bellan Rodrigues de; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0165-2927; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1371774110792347An analysis of the construction of two antagonistic representations of Sergio Moro as a judge of Lava Jato, the largest lawfare operation ever carried out in Brazil in magazine journalism. The objective was to establish the characteristics of the formation of mythical narratives from six reports from Veja and four from CartaCapital that exposed the representation of Moro on their covers between the years 2014 to 2018. It was identified that magazine journalism builds ideological myths . To arrive at this definition, a study of the myths was carried out in order to identify the characteristics that form these media phenomena present in the studied publications. In addition, we sought to relate this study to the fundamentals of magazine journalism and reporting developed by Brazilian and international authors and researchers. The research sought to identify the intersection between the two types of narrative in order to confirm the hypothesis that the magazines each built a mythical representation of Moro as a Lava Jato judge. Veja represented Moro as a national hero, while in CartaCapital he was a vigilante. The analysis was based on the discursive construction of the covers, titles, fine lines and excerpts of the reports. The study reached the following conclusions: the myths produced by journalism are primarily the result of the ideology of the company responsible for the publication. The repetition of a unit of meaning, the systematic use of archetypal images linked to a stereotype present in society, the choice to defend a truth of opinion and the conflict narrative were elements highlighted during the work. The research deepened the theme in interviews with journalists who composed the teams of the magazines responsible for the editions. The analyzed data and the answered questions allowed the present study to establish and explain the narrative structure of magazine journalism that mythified, according to the ideology of each magazine, the representation of Sergio Moro as a Lava Jato judge.

- ItemA INFLUÊNCIA DA COBERTURA DO “JORNAL NACIONAL” NA FORMAÇÃO DO DISCURSO DE ÓDIO CONTRA LULA(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2021-07-30) Pignaton, Caroline de Marchi; Reis, Ruth de Cássia dos; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3571-3580; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2483123134241477; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8354-7532; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4122451242122507; Geraldes, Elen Cristina; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0073-2001; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9494858512482573; Zanetti, Daniela; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3252-2271; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1014410108339962This study puts into perspective the connections between the role of contemporary journalism and hate speech. Through the analysis of French discourse, from the perspective of the pathemic effects of Charaudeau (2007), it analyzes how Jornal Nacional (A Brazilian TV news program) contributes to the formation of hate speech against former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In this way, it intends to achieve the pathemic discursive strategies produced by this TV news program with the highest audience on Brazilian television in the journalistic coverage of the “Triplex in Guarujá” case, which culminated in Lula's arrest during the 24th phase of “Operação Lava Jato” (Car War Operation). For this, its corpus was outlined based on the procedural stages conveyed by the aforementioned newscast and it comprises editions between the period of January 27, 2016 to June 23, 2021. Initially, it conceptualizes characteristics of the procedural nature of journalism and its relationship with the truth. It also works theoretically to understand the pre-existing relationships that are materialized through speech, whether verbal or non-verbal. Then, it elucidates concepts that permeate what Muniz Sodré (2016) calls sensitive discourse strategies, used by political journalism as a form of power and audience attraction. It verifies how telejournalism discourse explores emotions seeking to generate an enunciative behavior among viewers through the movement of affections and how this strategy is inserted in the formation of hate speech.
- ItemÀ margem dos jornais: uma análise de representação das áreas de vulnerabilidade social da Grande Vitória na imprensa capixaba(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2019-04-24) Ronchi, Ana Carolina; Rebouças, José Edgard; Zanotelli, Cláudio Luiz; Souza, Rafael Bellan Rodrigues deThis dissertation aims to understand how the printed newspapers A Gazeta and A Tribuna represent the areas of social vulnerability of the Metropolitan Region of Grande Vitória, in Espírito Santo. As a snippet of the localities to be analyzed, the Government of the State of Espírito Santo program called “Ocupação Social” was used. Of the 26 localities contemplated by project 18 are located in the Metropolitan Region, being also those analyzed in this research. At first, it starts off from the discussions around the press as a social institution authorized to narrate about the quotidian. Journalism is understood as a producer of content governed by its own dynamics and routines. Then there is the discussion about the formation of territories and territorialities understanding them in this research both physically - with vulnerable neighborhoods - and symbolically - journalism as social narrator. The reflection on territories culminates in the discussion about violence and how the press is responsible for presenting it (and representing it). Lastly, the information obtained through a Content Analysis on the coverage of the newspapers A Gazeta and A Tribuna around the vulnerable neighborhoods in the year 2016 is evidenced. The research indicates that the neighborhoods of social vulnerability are protagonists in the contents about violence in Espírito Santo and that cultural contents about them are almost non-existent. There is also the discussion around the approach of the two newspapers, their similarities and differences in reporting these facts.
- ItemA morte na territorialidade digital : espetáculo, consumo e gestão do medo nas redes sociais(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2017-05-26) Sangalli, Heryck Luiz Jacob; Martinuzzo, José Antonio; https://orcid.org/0000000204998512; Alves, Gabriela Santos; Ribeiro, Renata de RezendeThe present research is aimed to investigate approaches concerning death on the digital social network Facebook. The hypotheses to analyze the theme consider that death is related to spectacle, consumption and management of fear. The production of content regarded to this perspective is only made possible by means of the current media-based society in which digital social networks prospered because it provided tools for the development of locus. Thus, our empirical object of analysis is Jogos Mortais +18 and Faca na Caveira, two Brazilian pages in which contents referring to the death are posted. The study is divided into three parts that build the theoretical framework by means of a bibliographical review: death, media-based society and social networks on the Internet as a source of new territorialities; and spectacle, consumption and fear, as mentioned above. Next, ethnographic observation and content analysis as a methodology are applied. In order to understand how death is experienced in the wide day-to-day of Facebook, a survey aimed at users was conducted. In this manner, it is concluded that death is actually connected to spectacle, information consumption, and management of fear, appropriated by specific individuals to manage control. In addition, we have confirmed that death is part of Facebook's daily living and sociability, and also consumed by users who are not included in pages that publish such subject

This phenomenon, however, also resulted in the spread of intentionally false information, used as a political communication strategy. Faced with this scenario, several entities, including public authorities, communication specialists and various sectors of civil society, responded to threats to information integrity, with the RNCD being one of these initiatives. The present work, through a bibliographical review, deepens the discussion on the intentionality behind disinformation and its use as a tactic to influence political communication and maintain power and oppression. The networked approach adopted by RNCD in the fight against disinformation highlights the unprecedented dimension that this phenomenon takes on with the rise of the internet. The study analyzes digital transformations, focusing on the large-scale production of information, its multi-territorial nature and the consequences resulting from this context. The specific case study about RNCD is presented at the end of the work, based on data obtained from the network's website, observation of the group on Whatsapp and semi-structured interviews with its founder and one of the partners. The results highlight the paradigm shift by forming a network with more than 177 partners from different areas of knowledge, the network analysis of this articulation, the survey of their activities during the 2022 elections and the debate around PL2630. These elements highlight the positive impacts and contributions of RNCD in the battle against disinformation.
- ItemA presença das mulheres negras na publicidade veiculada na revista Claudia: anos 2002, 2012 e 2022(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2023-10-19) Lima, Ana Gabriela Oliveira; Souza, Flavia Mayer dos Santos; https://orcid.org/0000000337248109; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7612159350183081; https://orcid.org/; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2878591124276886; Leite, Francisco Vanildo; Correa, Laura GuimaraesThe expansion of the racial discussion is presented in Brazilian society, in the academy, as in the intersectional debate, and in some advertising strategies, such as the anti-racist one. That said, it is interesting to understand how the intensification of this discussion impacts the presence of historically marginalized groups in traditional media. This study aims to present a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the presence of black women in advertising published in printed women's magazines in recent decades, in order to understand who they are and how they are building. For that, we used discursive semiotics and plastic semiotics to read advertisements published in “Claudia” magazine in the years 2002, 2012 and 2022. As a result, in 2022 there was a significant quantitative increase in the presence of these women (they appeared in 6.72% of the sample in 2002, 5.11% in 2012 and 43.33% in 2022) and a lower recurrence of ‘white-passable’ black models than in previous years. The 2022 magazine, however, has different characteristics from previous years, with a significant reduction in the number of advertisements, which could compromise the quantitative comparison (The magazine went from an average of 121 advertisements per edition in 2002 to 85 in 2012 and six in 2022). The qualitative analysis of three advertisements from each selected year, however, pointed to the persistence of some stereotypes, such as the black athlete and the black woman as different, the “other” from white people, seen as universal.

For this purpose, the research analyzed 29 articles published in the newspaper capixaba A Gazeta, from January 2015 to June 2017, concerning the approach of the subject to understand how the discursive role of journalism can give social legitimacy to certain narratives that have crystallized throughout our history, grounded in the belief in objectivity and impartiality. Never theless, in the analysis under the plan of what is the “street situation” such problematization goes far beyond the sad narrative and individual experience of each of these people; because in the macro sense we have other issues regarding urban conflicts immersed in the landscape of big cities and public policies aimed at this public. In order to discuss the subject in a minimal way from the perspective of Social Sciences thought, we chose as main theoretical references: Michel Foucault and the power relations in the social environment and the role of biopolitics in the narrative of how mediation between the State occurs. , society and the individual; Karl Marx, who, by inserting the question of structures in the laying down of the bases of capitalist production by the separation of labor from property, gives rise to reasons about the process we are now presenting; or Teun A. van Dijk's linguistic assumptions about the dimension of Critical Discourse Analysis. In the Brazilian case, Florestan Fernandes discusses the genesis of our social inequalities and ills resulting from enslavement; conditions imposed, according to Jessé Souza, by the strong influence of Brazilian rural patriarchalism in the formation of our national identity. In this context, the research found that the reinforcement of the ideologies of hegemonic segments and their power of control with the media sectors - which reproduces the thought / discourse of the country's elites as a way of maintaining the status quo - and the state, remains present. in their inability to formulate public policies that can transform the lives of homeless people (minorities) and reduce historical social inequalities.
- ItemAfrosamurai : uma análise sobre a representação de um heroí e protagonista negro na narrativa transnacional do Anime(Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2016-04-01) Rangel, Edson Alves; Menotti, Gabriel; Brandão, Alessandra; Vieira Junior, ErlyThis study analyzes the representation of a black player in the transnational anime AfroSamurai. In this analysis, we demonstrate that the narrative construction of the series, built in the form of a saga hero, working some issues that are relevant to the black people amid the world of representation and science fiction of a globalized society. Issues related to the deconstruction of racial determinism formed amid modernity and reconfigured in the midst of post-modernity. And that treatment of these issues is approaching to that given by the Afrofuturism approach that works the relationship between science fiction and political issues relevant to black people. We also demonstrated that the visual narrative of the Afro Samurai series approaches another approach to modernity experience and post-modernity, from a Japanese perspective, in order to reconfigure the treatment and approach to this narrative construction gives the issues that are relevant for black people.
